If you’ve ever suffered from an Anxiety Disorder, you understand how debilitating they can be, but for those of us who haven’t experienced the crushing lows of anxiety, it can be difficult to comprehend what that means.
WHAT IS AN ANXIETY DISORDER?
Put simply, an anxiety disorder is a medical condition characterised by persistent, excessive worry. It can affect someone’s ability to carry-out seemingly menial tasks, or take pleasure in day-to-day activities.
Anxiety is much more than just feeling stressed or worried. Where normal stress will pass once the stressor has been removed, anxiety is the name given when those feelings refuse to dissipate.
These kinds of mental illnesses are among the most common in Australia, and often go untreated and undiagnosed. If you or someone you know has been demonstrating symptoms of anxiety, it’s important that you reach out and seek medical advice on how best to tackle the issue.
